Pilot Profiles

Mick Collins
I started my flying career at a green Dragons fun day in kennel farm. I did 8 winches in one day. It’s was a great introduction to Paragliding.
My kit back on the day was an old airwave wave and a school harness that was destined to be replaced ASAP once qualified.

I then went on to continue Paragliding at GD with an EP course and on my last day bought a firebird grid. A harness and a reserve. That was me set up for life or so I thought.
Once passed my CP I was given use of a UP ascent 2 while my old firebird was in for service. Oooops firebird not for life. I traded in my firebird for a UP ascent 2 and a UP alpine harness. Boom. Now I’m set up for life. The UP ascent was amazing. Safe. Well built. But then I spotted the Makalu. Damn. Another purchase. And so my career went on. Use this. Upgrade. Use that. Upgrade. So much so that in he last 9 years I have flown all up gliders including the Ascent 2. Makalu. Kantega. Ascent 3. Summit xc2. Trango xc3. However I did step back from that one as it was a bit above my pay grade. I am now firmly settled on a UP summit XC 4. It’s amazing.
